When it comes to construction, it is better doing it yourself than using this company!
We appointed Maintenique to build us a wooden structure. The project was doomed to fail since day 1. Part of us choosing to go with Maintenique was due to a promise that there will always be a supervisor on site. This part of the contract was already broken from the start as workers were left unattended since the beginning.
Due to the workers, who appear to be completely unqualified casual laborers, being left unattended, the work was sloppy and of very poor standard. This was communicated almost daily to Jan Potgieter and just ignored, which resulted in further damages and terrible workmanship. Workers were still being left being unattended without any care or worry from Jan Potgieter. The workers also seem to have not been correctly remunerated for their work as they continuedly demanded money from us.
A few weeks into the project we were informed by Jan Potgieter that he messed up another project and will have to put our project on hold until he can repair damages on the other site. We gave Jan Potgieter a week and later extended to 2 weeks on his insistence so he can complete that issue. After the 2 weeks we learned that that client haven't paid him and that he used our money to correct those mistakes and as a result of that he could not continue with our project due to cash management issues.
Due to the structure being built out of wood and not properly treated with sealer as agreed, it has begun to rot and the months that Jan Potgieter wanted to leave the project abandoned for was not a valid option. Due to this, myself and my family are attempting to finish the project ourselves, as we cannot afford to employ another company due to Jan Potgieter abandoning the project and failing to supply a refund and his mismanagement of our funds paid over to him as per our contractual agreement. We also had to dismantle large parts of their work and redo it myself as it was already falling down and nothing was water level and balanced. Three quarters of the work was left for me to complete, with no support offered by Jan Potgieter. This has resulted in almost doubling my original budget.
